• Hemp: Hemp is the strongest cellulosic natural fiber and is resistant to degradation from sun and water. Hemp is inherently antimicrobial with excellent UV resistance. For lifestyle sport the benefits are comfort and the character of the fiber, which suggests natural heritage and integrity, rather than sterile technology. Using hemp as a textile fiber means low impact manufacturing, since the plant does not require pesticides and little to no water input and actually improves the soil where it is cultivated.


• Lyocell: Lyocell is a semi-synthetic fabric that is commonly used as a substitute for cotton or silk. The fabric is a form of rayon, and it is composed primarily of cellulose derived from wood. Lyocell fabric is soft to the touch, and it is hard to tell the difference between this fabric and cotton. Lyocell fabric is very strong whether it is wet or dry, and is usually more resistant to pilling than cotton. Since it is so strong, when it is mixed with other fabrics, the resulting composite fabric is stronger than cotton on its own. As one of the newest cellulose fabrics, Lyocell improves on the production methods used to make rayon. It is more efficient, uses fewer toxic chemicals and produces less waste making it better for the environment. Lyocell is also biodegradable.
